Upper East Side

Situated between Central Park and the East River and 59th Street to 96th Street, the Upper East Side is known for being an elegant and cultured residential neighborhood and is one of the most affluent neighborhoods in New York City. The majority of residential buildings here were built between the turn of the century and the 1930s.

The Upper East Side is home to the City’s highest concentration of cultural institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the MoMA, Whitney, and Guggenheim museums, the Frick Collection and many smaller high-quality institutions. No wonder this area along Fifth Avenue is called “Museum Mile.” Fifth Avenue, as well as Madison Avenue, also boasts some of the world’s most desired retailers and brands – from Bloomingdale’s to Barney’s; from Chanel to Prada. World-class hotels in the neighborhood include the Carlyle, the Mark, the Lowell and the Plaza-Athene, and dozens of fine restaurants are nearby – including Daniel, Sandro’s, David Burke Townhouse, and many more.
The Upper East Side is also steps to blocks away from Central Park, a world-class playground —with its zoo, tennis courts, formal gardens, bridle paths, running tracks and reservoir. While further from Central Park, residents in Yorkville toward the East River enjoy stunning river views and the added perk of Carl Schurz Park.
